“Jay” Alexander came to Greenville theater after eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as an infantryman and Combat Correspondent, serving in the Mediterranean, the Horn of Africa, and most recently in Iraq. As a Combat Correspondent, he won three U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondent Association awards in the news photography, feature story, and combat reporting categories for his coverage of the War in Iraq.

After leaving the U.S. Marines in 2006, he relocated to Greenville to attend school and became involved in Community Theater, starting as a stagehand in the 2006 Magnolia Arts Center production of “Seventh Heaven.” He then went on to work as the assistant technical director for the Greenville Theater Projects’ fall production “All In The Timing.” In the summer of 2007, he served as the stage manager and assistant director for Jane Sharp’s production “Graceland” and “Asleep On The Wind.”

In addition to theater, Jerad has written two screenplays and three short films and in 2005, went into production on his short “Morality Bytes.” In March, he is relocating to Atlanta, Georgia to start pre-production on his screenplay “New Dawn Fades,” a crime drama. He is also currently working on “Playing War,” an account of the Iraq War and the U.S. Marines.

Jane SharpProducer

Jane Sharp has been involved in community theater for more than 20 years. She served on the Board of Directors for the Costa Mesa Civic Playhouse. She was a member of the Way Off Broadway Players in Anaheim California appearing in improv, standup and sketch comedy.

She is an original member of the Ooops Comedy Improv, performing locally. She has appeared in the Greenville Theater Project’s “All in the Timing”, “Vagina Monologues”, and numerous other theater productions in California, Chattanooga and Greenville, SC.

In 1992, she produced “Graceland” winning the American Association of Community Theater’s west coast regional competition and placing fifth nationally. She has worked with the author and director of “ENEMIES” in other productions and has a collaborative approach to production. Her goal is to present a story which carries the director’s view and the author’s message to help the audience feel rather than simply observe.

Joseph HorstPlaywright

Joseph Horst came to Greenville and ECU in 1989, after first finding his interest in theatre in his senior year of high school with a part in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” While studying for a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at ECU, he still enjoyed roles in plays like “Danton’s Death” and “House of Blue Leaves.” Even during his eight years as a full-time police officer at ECU, Joe found time to perform in other ECU workshops, student directing and film projects and one of his all-time favorite plays, “Inherit the Wind.”

He graduated in 2005 with a Master’s in English with a specialization in Creative Writing. His thesis for that degree was “Enemies”, which most recently won 7th place in the Writer’s Digest 76th Annual Writing Competition. Currently, Joe teaches Technical Writing and freshman English at ECU, along with working on his own personal writing and Internet research.
